Artist Residence Cornwall, hotel in Penzance

The unique and original rooms at the 17th-century Artist Residence are each uniquely designed in an eclectic, rustic style, with a curated collection of limited edition artworks throughout.

I liked the artwork and the decor of the inn. It was very convenient to have a lounge for an early breakfast or evening dinner/drink. The staff was very friendly. The bathroom was great with a heated towel holder and rainfall shower. I also loved the natural lotions and soaps that were free. The room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable.

Easy self-check in even though we arrived late at night. Mike, Ally & Elvis are wonderful hosts. Mike recommended lots of places that we shouldn’t miss in Cornwall. Fabulous town, it’s got culture, it’s got architecture, it’s got a great rugby club, it’s got a busy harbour’ it’s got great cafes and restaurants, a stunning promenade and a lot more besides! Check out what’s going on at The Acorn Theatre which is brilliant. For a shortish trip see what’s on at The Minack. Best beaches are Sennen, Porthcurno, the Lelant ones, the St. Ives ones, Hayle Towans and Praa Sands. Perranuthnoe beach is good at low tide. Go to St Ives by train - the view from St Erth into St Ives is breathtaking !

Glad we got tickets for the Minack Theatre and explored the Gobal Telecommunications Museum, took the Coaster bus several tiimes, including to Land's End and walked the Coastal path to Sennen. Enjoyed the Penlee art gallery, especially in the midst of reading "Summer in February." Enjoyed a meal at the oldest pub, and at the Longboat Inn. The staff at the Info Centre were the best - gave us so many tips and set us on the right buses.

i like walking on the promenade, along to Newlyn, took the Mounts Bay coast path to Marazion, took the bus to Trengwainton gardens- lovely to see the magnolias, rhododendrons and camellias - interesting walks round the gardens and a lovely cafe with friendly staff and good food. Visited Trewidden gardens by bus and also took the train to St. Ives- a lovely scenic run along the coast. Penzance town has a nice selection of shops and it is worth exploring the back streets and the area round Chapel street. On previous visits have been to the Morrab gardens and other parks. Penzance is easy to walk round, has a good bus service and the tourist information staff are very knowledgable and helpful.

Went in the end of February, it was a quiet time with everything closing by 10pm, and last buses leaving early, but it's just as lovely if not more so as any other time of the year could be. Even for hiking, if you get ready for the wind, the rain, the fog, the mud and the cold.

Stayed in this hotel either side of Isles of Scilly trip and it was perfect. Staff were very friendly and approachable. Would recommend not just for a stop over to the Isles but also for anyone wanting to visit Penzance as it was very close to the town/train station etc . Also ideal base for exploring the beautiful places nearby. Great breakfast served daily too. Could order whatever wanted and at a time to suit. Thanks Kate and Roy for making us feel welcome (and not forgetting Bob the dog!).

THE HOTEL IS LOCATED IN THE MOST HISTORIC STREET IN PENZANCE WITH LOVELY ANTIQUE SHOPS AND NOT FAR FROM THE HIGH STREET AND WITHERSPOON JUST AROUND THE CORNER. LOVELY PUB DOWNSTAIRS WITH MUSIC ONCE A WEEK. THE STAFF ALBEIT A HANDFUL WERE EXCELLENT THEY ALL HAD TO CHIP IN TO DO VARIOUS JOBS DUE TO SHORT STAFF AND DID EVERYTHING WITH A SMILE AND WERE SO HELPFUL. I had a fantastic stay at Hotel Penzance. We were pleasantly surprised when they upgraded our room, and it turned out to be amazing. The room had a stunning view, and the hospitality was top-notch. The amenities provided added an extra layer of comfort to our experience. The hotel's proximity to the main station and bus stop made our travels convenient. I would highly recommend Hotel Penzance for anyone looking for a delightful stay with excellent service.

Friendly proprietor and the more sociable atmosphere of breakfast in a guest house environment rather than a hotel - an excellent breakfast at that - freshly cooked to guests' 'specifications'. Convenient for buses and trains from Penzance to other Cornish destinations including outstanding views from the South West Coast Path tackled after a hearty breakfast and a packed lunch requested. Access to kitchen facilities are a bonus.

I travel all over Cornwall with work and stay in some of the best Hotels but in Penzance my budget doesn’t stretch far. This quaint little friendly pub is a lovely place to stay. The rooms are very clean and the bed is very comfy! The breakfast which is brought to your room is stunning! Lovely staff that make you feel very welcome. Next door is another pub that serves very good food and again the staff are very friendly.

This is an apartment that is located near the bus/train station so access to same is terrific. The bedroom is large, the bed comfortable and the kitchen is user friendly. We had easy and quick access to the owner on some questions and ours were answered within 15 minutes. Overall… Penzance is a great place to visit and I would certainly book this again.

The decor of the property, in the lounge, bedroom and staircases was just beautiful. A lot of thought has gone into it for sure. Also the service was amazing in terms of checkin process and receiving new/clean teabags and towels etc. This was our first hotel stay in Penzance and we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else now that we've been here.

Hosts are Sally & Alan—very nice and helpful with daily journeys. Breakfast served individually in A pleasant dining room, for all guests. Room was well appointed, bright, with a small bathroom. Everything very clean and well planned. The best choice of B & B’s in the Promenade area of Penzance.
